What year did you begin in the industry?

I’ve been in the industry for 25 years. I went to a vocational school in Baltimore where I started studying cosmetology in 1992 and graduated in 1995.

Why did you choose this career?

I feel like my career chose me. I had the privilege of studying cosmetology during my sophmore, junior, and senior year of high school. At the time, I figured that it would be something to do to get me through college. Little did I know, I would grow a passion and love for this industry!

What do your favorite service to perform?

I love teaching guests how to work with their curls how to embrace the beast

What is your favorite product/ favorite product cocktail?

My Aveda "bouquet" is Be Curly Style Prep, Be Curly Enhancer, and Confixor to enhance my curly locks. I also love Aveda skin care and makeup.

What has been your favorite education class that you have taken within the last year? How has it impacted you as a professional behind the chair?

My favorite class this past year was “Elevate Masters”. Elevate Masters is a new class that was incorporated in 2019. It featured well known Aveda artists performing colors and cuts on stage while educating the crowd throughout the service. The best part was it was informal so you got to relax and enjoy the artistry of the hair! The most impacting class this passed year was becoming an Aveda Certified Color Educator. I have worked on this certification for the past 3 years! It allows me to teach other Aveda artists within our salon and our region!

What is something few people know about you?

I would say that few people know that I have a 6 year old granddaughter!

What are your hobbies outside of your profession?

I can’t say that I have many hobbies. If I had to pick one I would say reading.

What do you want to be known for in the industry?

I want to be known for as a curly specialist, a educator, and a day maker!
